BC PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS' BURN FUND BUILDING

The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund Building will be the first multi-use building of its kind in North America. The proposed 25,695-square-foot building will include eight beds of housing for burn survivors and their families while they’re undergoing treatment, a research facility for clinical trials in burn and wound healing, community and lecture rooms and an interactive multimedia educational/resource component. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2008. 

Partners and Funding:
Cost of this project is $22 million.

• The Province will provide $2 million toward the capital cost of the building.
• The City of Vancouver and the Burn Fund are working to find a suitable site, and the City will consider providing a site to the Burn Fund as part of its ongoing partnership with the Province.
• The Burn Fund will provide the remainder in donations from British Columbia’s Professional Fire Fighters, other levels of government, corporations, service organizations, community foundations and individual donors through its capital campaign.

The Burn Fund provides life-saving, life-supporting, and life-enriching services to the people in British Columbia. More than 3,500 professional firefighters from 49 communities around the province are building the Burn Fund’s vision. They dedicate their time and skills to support burn survivors and increase the public's knowledge about fire and burn safety issues through the work the Burn Fund does with its Burn Awareness, Research and Prevention Programs. The BC Professional Fire Fighters Association Burn Fund is a registered charity established in 1978.
