BRIGHT NIGHTS IN STANLEY PARK RAISES $205,208 FOR FIRE FIGHTERS’ BURN FUND

VANCOUVER - The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund received a cheque for $205,208 from the Eighth Annual Bright Nights in Stanley Park at the Vancouver Park Board meeting earlier this week.

L to R: Ray Boucher, Chair, and Dave Veuger, Vice-Chair of the Fire Fighters Bright Nights Committee and Commissioner Heather Holden, Chair of the Vancouver Park Board.
Bright Nights is a joint event of the Vancouver Park Board and BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.

“This is highest amount raised in the history of the event,” says Ray Boucher, Burn Fund Director and Chair of Bright Nights. “The amount is from partial proceeds from the train and all donations from the event, plus donations from our Bright Nights sponsors The Old Spaghetti Factory, USC Education Savings Plans Inc., and Canadian Automated Banking Machines.”

The Burn Fund reached another milestone at this year’s Bright Nights by reaching the $1 million mark in donations over the eight-year history of the event. “We have set another goal: to raise the second million for the Burn Fund at Bright Nights over the next five years,” says Boucher.

The Burn Fund provides life saving, life supporting, and life enriching services to the people in British Columbia. More than 3,300 professional fire fighters around the province are building the Burn Fund’s vision. They dedicate their time and skills to support burn survivors and increase the public’s knowledge about fire and burn safety issues through the work the Burn Fund does with its Burn Awareness, Research and Prevention Programs.
