VANCOUVER, B.C. (February 28, 2008) – The Neighbourhood Fire Hall Concert Series is excited to present Vancouver-based Spygirl, a 6-piece group whose music has earned devoted fans and critical praise across town and around the world.

Spygirl‘s self-titled debut album of original music was met with glowing reviews in 2001 and the album was nominated for a West Coast Music Award. Today, Spygirl is touring to support the release of their second full-length album, pieces of evidence:

"…you should be awed by the beauty of singer Koralee Tonack's, voice, the orchestral instrumental interplay between multi-instrumentalist whiz Jane Gowan, guitarist Jon Roper and keyboardist James Ong, and the driving rhythm section of bassist Al MacInnes and drummer Eduardo Ottoni. Highly recommended for fans of everything from Coldplay and Eisley to classic Canadiana like Sarah MacLachlan...this band has grown leaps and bounds since its accomplished debut. This group deserves to be playing bigger venues to larger, adoring audiences."
- Stuart Derdeyn, The Vancouver Province

Produced by Tom Rothrock (Beck, Elliott Smith, Sloan, Badly Drawn Boy and James Blunt), pieces of evidence is an eclectic group of songs sharing a musical landscape that is lush, melodic, elegant and darkly romantic. Spygirl has toured through Canada and the UK but Vancouverites need only travel to East Van to hear the band perform on Saturday, April 12.

All ticket proceeds from this event go to the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund. This concert will be recorded for national broadcast on CBC Radio Two's "Canada Live" program. Alarms may interrupt the performance but the band will do their best to continue the show. The Fire Fighters will be as quiet and tactful as possible as they hurry away.
