NEWS RELEASE - APRIL 8, 2009 - Bright Nights in Stanley Park Raises $126,000 for BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund.
VANCOUVER - The 11th Annual Bright Nights in Stanley Park, a joint event of the BCPFF Burn Fund and the Vancouver Park Board, raised over $126,000 for the Burn Fund and its programs.
Over 85,000 people attended the event this year. "We are extremely pleased with the support of the public and our sponsors. Over 500 fire fighters contibute more than 8,000 hours to set up the event so it is a huge community effort to make this event successful," says Ray Boucher, Burn Fund Director and Chair of the Bright Nights Committee. "The funds raised will make a huge difference to burn survivors and their families in our province."
The monies raised go directly to the Burn Fund, which provides life saving, life supporting and life enriching services to the people in BC. More than 3,700 professional fire fighters from around the province of BC and the Yukon are builing the Burn Fund's vision. They dedicate their time and skills to support the burn survivors and increase the public's knowledge about fire and burn safety issuses through the work the Burn Fund does with its Burn Awareness, Research and Prevention programs.
